Jan: Trust Not in Lying Words

In the days of the prophet Jeremiah, the people of Judah had gotten so far off the mark, to the point they were unrepentant and stiff-necked, that it seemed an almost unrecoverable position.  While they pursued idols and got involved in all sorts of pagan and immoral practices, somehow they still believed their form of religion was acceptable to God.  After all, they still had the beautiful Temple of Solomon occupying the highest point in their beloved Jerusalem.   They were attending services regularly.  Surely the Lord was still with them.

Instead, the prophet’s plea was repentance and a turning to God with the whole heart.  There are a lot of parallels between Jeremiah’s day and ours, as this lesson clearly demonstrates.
